Halloween in the new Rec Hall!

Update from the Dugans: Check out the great Halloween party that took place in the new rec hall. We had about 12 families from the kids’ school and even a TRR guest family that has moved to Castle Rock. Lindsey and Tyler were a huge help on the decorating committee with lots of spiders and spooky cobwebs. The kids took the top floor for mummy wrapping, musical monsters and the strobe light dance party. Meanwhile, the adult were on the bottom floor enjoying great food and a warm fire. It was a fun way to use the “new building” (we are really trying to quit calling it that) and to enjoy Halloween with no neighbors or trick-or-treating opportunities! Oh, I should mention that Kevin (head of maintenance) won 3rd place for his “creepy clown” costume, Laney won 2nd place for her cute clown costume and of course our friends from Bailey won with the ole’ “Sunny & Cher” couple costume. We miss all of our friends and staff and can’t wait to see everyone again next summer.

Flag Mountain!

Update from the Dugans: Last weekend we had planned to go meet some friends in Breckenridge, but Sunny (you all might remember the great wrangling-dog) found some hunters camped out in Geneva Park. We could not get her down despite our attempts to walk up the switchbacks trail to find her. So, we decided we couldn’t leave in case she came home to an empty house. It turned out to be a good thing, as the entire family (Laney-7, Finn-4 and Miles- 5 months) had a goal to “summit” Flag Mountain! It has been something Laney has been working towards all summer. We packed backpacks with fruit snacks, apples and peanut butter sandwiches and took off. (Of course, Sunny came home right as we were leaving, so she was able to come with us). It took a little prodding and encouraging getting Finn to buy into the incredible views from the flag, but HE DID IT!!! He turned 5 this past Wednesday, so we made a big deal about the fact that he made the summit as a 4-year old. It has been a little lonely around here and some of us (Megan) have been feeling sorry for themselves, so it was a wonderful reminder of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful spot and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful fall day. The snow is coming (in fact, it has already been here) so we are soaking up everyday of warm sun.

Welcome!!

Welcome to our blog! Although the 2009 summer season has come to a close, activity at the ranch never stops. We are so excited to be able to share with you all of the new additions from babies to buildings that we have seen at TR this past year, and as always, we can’t wait for what’s to come! We hope that with this blog our guests will be able to connect with one another and share those great stories of the inner cowboys and cowgirls many of us have found within ourselves at the ranch over the years. Thank you for your interest in Tumbling River. Cowboy up!
